Graphic Designer
AECOM Tishman
Jul 2005 - Jan 2012
New York, NY
At Tishman I worked directly with writers, proofreaders, and analysts to produce proposal and qualification packages for iconic structures worldwide. I created and modified layout in Adobe InDesign with heavy use of image placement, style sheets, master pages, tables, etc. Part of my time was spent researching local image databases and stock image libraries, editing and retouching images in Adobe Photoshop, as well as creating infographics in Adobe Illustrator. When the company was absorbed by AECOM in 2010, I assisted in rebranding and redesigning several corporate identity documents, including templates, regional and market sector brochures, ads and posters. I oversaw each project from start to finish, researched printing methods and paper stock, and assisted with punching and binding the final document. I juggled multiple projects at once, worked after hours, on weekends and holidays in order to meet firm deadlines.
Production Designer
Ziff Davis
Mar 2004 - Jan 2005
Greater New York City Area
SYNC magazine was a Ziff Davis start up publication, catered to gadget lovers, gamers and tech geeks. While part of the first three issues, I worked closely with the editors, art director, graphic designers and the printing plant. I attended photo shoots, assisted with image retouching and color-correction and flightchecked every single spread to ensure files met the printer’s specifications and our aesthetic direction. I attended press checks for the first and second issues in Minnesota and assisted with production of the third issue. Unfortunately the publication was short lived and I was forced to seek other opportunities.
Graphic + Production Designer
Jobson Publishing
Jun 2002 - Mar 2004
New York City
At Jobson, I oversaw and implemented the planning, conception and development of several of the company’s optical data publications: FRAMES DATA (quarterly/1400+ pages),PriceBook (monthly), Dispensing & Merchandising (annual), Surfacing & Finishing (annual). I also assisted their magazines- Vision Monday and 20/20- with ad creation. While there, I designed business unit marketing materials, media kits, brochures, and annual reports. I worked closely with sales, business development, marketing divisions and clients to create custom catalogs and brochures. By analyzing and understanding the client’s needs and expectations I was able to offer the company alternative architectures and trends by articulating key aspects of design, multi-tasking and targeting strategies (eg. availability, manageability, robustness, appropriate incorporation of client’s ideas). I tracked and managed all projects from conception to printing, while adhering to strict deadlines.
