Haana Thiem

Los Angeles-based HÄANA is a one-woman orchestra, combining music + tech + art with Nordic/Icelandic influences set to a broken beat. Her original productions are like a dynamic film score. HÄANA counts Massive Attack, Björk, and Trentemøller as influences in crafting her sounds, featuring electronica influences, synthetic sonority, and vocal textures. The resulting sonic palate takes listeners on a journey whose destination is a crossroads between classical and contemporary, organic & man-made, familiar and mysterious. She studied contemporary improvisation at New England Conservatory (Boston, MA), and electronic music production at Dubspot (NYC). In addition to touring the globe with EDM festivals and as a guest artist for brands such as Intel and Ferrari, and a guest resident artist at Berklee Music College in Valencia, Spain, HÄANA has appeared at Gillette Stadium w/ Kanye West opening for the Rolling Stones, Madison Square Garden for MTV (w/ Kanye), Harvey Nichols Fashion Show (Dubai), Abu Dhabi 3-day NYE Fest (UAE), Alvin Ailey Gala, Obama's Inaugural Ball, Michael Jordan's Wedding, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. HÄANA is also a film score composer and has scored a 90-min feature documentary This Cold Life (produced by Time, INC) and music for Heavy Water (produced by Red Bull). Haana's unique style has defined her work since her explorations into black and white photography whilst living in Granada, Spain.

• Managed Photo.net editorial process, including maintaining efficient and timely editorial calendar. • Managed a team of freelance & staff writers to produce editorial each month including tutorials, equipment reviews, and columns. • Lead design team to create landing pages for article series designed to provide interesting editorial content and additional channels for ad revenue. • Responsible for search engine optimization implementation, development, and growth on editorial, and across the site. • Launched a new bi-monthly newsletter campaign to 300,000 users. • Established relationships with PR groups of key manufacturers (Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Sony, Leica, Olympus, etc.) for priority access to equipment and press releases. • Developed and executed the complete editorial concept for collaborative community-driven article series. • Produced in-depth reviews on DSLR cameras and complete System reviews, Graduation Gift Guide, Holiday Gift Guide, and camera previews.
