Hospitality for ideas Alma is a co-working space and member’s club located in Stockholm. Designed by Fredrik Carlström and local architecture firm Tham & Videgård, the house is characterized by an international expression that aims to inspire creatives and entrepreneurs active within design, architecture, film, fashion, advertising, music, art, and media. Much of the building, for many years home to Beckmans College of Design, was preserved or restored in tune with the building’s existing features and quirks. The ambition for the project was to create a house for creatives by creatives, and interiors and products have been commissioned specifically for Alma and are available for purchase in the design shop, located in the club’s entrance and open to the public. Tables, benches and drawers were designed and produced by Sjölinders. The light fixture, w171 Alma, which was designed for the house and produced by Wästberg was awarded “Best Lighting” at the 2017 Stockholm Furniture and Lighting Fair. A mobile light installation by Danish designer Kasper Friis Kjeldgaard was commissioned for the atrium. Ceramicist Rikard Palmquist has designed the tableware. Moa Ott created hangers and other wood products. A large scale, custom-made couch was developed together with Erik Järkil. Hand made ceramic signs and hangers were made by Sara Söderberg. Textiles were designed and made by Christina Nordlind Hejdenberg. The logotype and visual identity was created by Nathan Warkentin to express the nurturing spirit of the club and the concept of a continuing process. The five-story structure has a mindful balance of work and social spaces, including dedicated work areas, rooms for meetings and collaboration, a state of the art music studio, an outdoor terrace, and communal and private dining spaces. The restaurant serves meals exclusively for members and their guests. Fewer, better things Austere is a design company dedicated to making well crafted, beautiful and functional furniture and accessories. In the spirit of our Scandinavian heritage, we look to surround ourselves with fewer, better things. Believing good design is a basic human right and should be available to many, we grew frustrated that shipping companies made more than the designer and that traditional retail made good design too expensive. Shopping for design is a pain. We wanted to make it painless, and maybe even fun. To that end, Austere works with some of the leading designers in the world, selling direct-to-consumers online and through a select number of showrooms in the United States and Europe.

The Bauhaus of rum Asked by The Absolut Company to apply order to chaos and make sense of one of the largest and most exciting spirits categories we created and launched a new rum brand. After tasting, blending and refining, we decided to name the company The Rum Society and to name the products for the number of trials it took before each product received the seal of approval. All made in traditional pot stills by the most talented Caribbean distillers, but each with a distinct character of its own we are proud to introduce the first collection — batches No. 40, 62 and 65. In 2017 Fredrik Carlström acquired the brand from The Absolut Company.

The Brooklyn Block started as a personal project with a friend and eventually grew into a brand. The goal is to offer products that are exploratory and interesting. For our first product, videos of neighborhoods of Brooklyn are processed in the code to generate surface patterns. These patterns are printed on silk and stitched into a scarf. The scarf is packaged with the photo of the place where the video was shot and a card explaining maker's process.
