Paul Shipper

I am a freelance illustrator best known for producing key art and imagery for film, entertainment and advertising properties. Born in Manchester back in '76, my formal education ended with BA in illustration and Animation although I continue to learn new things and hone my craft to this day. After living in New Zealand for 6 years I moved back to the UK in 2014 and now work from my studio in South-West England.   Inspired from a young age by the one sheets in the cinema lobby and the posters on my bedroom wall, I fell in love with the craft and beauty of the illustrated film poster. Since the mid-to-late 90's I have been devoted to creating art that embodies that very aesthetic, on a self proclaimed mission to bring the beloved 'old school' illustrated movie posters I grew up with back to the cinema... and beyond While remaining constant to my 'retro' vision, the artwork I create has a modern appeal which is beneficial to my growing client base. Embracing digital painting with a traditional art background is just one example of my ability to utilise the latest tools and delivery methods while staying true to the traditional style I hold so close to my heart. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had my work appreciated and praised by some fine members of the film industry, including J.J. Abrams, Frank Darabont, Bob Gale, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, Tom Tykwer and the Wachowski's.  I am honoured to have been awarded a prestigious Key Art Award in 2014.
